LivePerson appoints new APAC region chief

Cloud mobile and online business messaging solutions provider LivePerson has appointed former Amdocs senior manager Andrew Cannington as its new regional vice-president APAC as it looks to accelerate regional growth.

Prior to joining LivePerson, Cannington headed a number of large enterprise clients for Amdocs’ non-telco accounts, working to structure large account engagements and deliver on strategic alignment.

His experience spans nearly 15 years in digital strategy, business development and executive oversight across the Australia and New Zealand markets.

“We have seen an enormous increase in brands who understand that consumers love messaging, that it will quickly become the primary way consumers and brands connect, and that LiveEngage is the only conversational platform that has been deployed many times, at scale,” said LivePerson founder and chief executive Robert LoCascio.

“Andrew is a great addition to our team as we bring AI-powered messaging to leading enterprises, and leverage this tremendous proposition to transform customer care in APAC.”

LivePerson cites research showing that a vast majority of consumers use mobile messaging as their primary way to keep in touch with friends and family throughout the day, and that they would also like to use that method to communicate with brands.

According to LivePerson, the research shows that among Australians, for example, 53% of consumers expressed a preference to message with companies versus calling and waiting on hold.
