D-Link launches AC2600 Wi-Fi range extender

Networking equipment company D-Link has launched an AC2600 Wi-Fi Range Extender that is equipped with the company's Whole Home Wi-Fi technology.

The device has four high-performance external antennas and high-power amplifiers designed to optimise coverage and maximise range, and is claimed to eliminate wireless dead zones in hard-to-reach areas like bedrooms upstairs and outdoor areas.

A statement from D-Link said the DAP-1860 would work with any router. But when paired with a D-Link PowerZone-enabled router or modem router, it enabled a mesh solution with a single network name across the entire home.

The device has dual-band connectivity with speeds of up to 2600Mbps, advanced AC SmartBeam to enhance signal strength, and a Smart Signal Indicator to help users find the optimal spot for its location.

It also has the latest multi-user MIMO (MU-MIMO) technology to enable simultaneous transmission to groups, use available Wi-Fi network capacity efficiently and speed up transmissions.

"The new DAP-1860 AC2600 Wi-Fi Range Extender helps guarantee this allowing users to place devices anywhere in their home without having to worry about a slow or intermittent Wi-Fi connection.”

RECOVERING FROM RANSOMWARE

Ransomware is a type of malware that blocks access to your files and systems until you pay a ransom.

The first example of ransomware happened on September 5, 2013, when Cryptolocker was unleashed.

It quickly affected many systems with hackers requiring users to pay money for the decryption keys.

Find out how one company used backup and cloud storage software to protect their company’s PCs and recovered all of their systems after a ransomware strike.
